By signing the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union committed itself to achieving the so-called 20-20-20 target, namely:

- 20% less CO2 emissions

- 20% less energy consumption

- 20% more energy from renewable sources by 2020

Directive 2009/125/EC - ErP is an important measure taken by the EU to achieve the targets agreed in Kyoto. It is also called the European Ecodesign Directive and sets minimum energy efficiency requirements for energy-related products manufactured or imported into the European Union.

Regulation (EU) No. 327/2011 was created for the implementation of Directive 2009/125/EC regarding the ecodesign requirements of fans driven by electric motors with an input power between 125 W and 500 kW. It does not apply to fans:

- for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, known as ATEX fans
- fans designed to operate with high-temperature air > 100 °C
- where the ambient temperature is > 65 °C or < -40 °C
- with a supply voltage > 1000 V AC or > 1500 V DC
- for toxic, highly corrosive or flammable environments, or in environments with abrasive substances
- with optimal energy efficiency at speeds ≥ 8,000
- fans placed on the market before 1 January 2015
- for applications with a specific coefficient > 1.11 (pressure > 11100 Pa)

Most of KOVENT-KLIMA's products exceed the minimum performance requirements. All fans to which an electric motor is installed are covered by Regulation (EU) No. 327/2011.
Regulation (EC) No. 640/2009 applies to ecodesign requirements for electric motors.

ATEX is an abbreviation of the French term Atmospheres Eхplosives.
The term “ATEX” applies to atmospheres that are potentially explosive due to the possible presence of a mixture of air with flammable substances in the form of gases, vapors, aerosols or dust under atmospheric conditions that are likely to ignite and explode. There are two directives of the European Commission that deal with this phenomenon.

- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU refers to products that can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.

- ATEX Directive 1999/92/EC deals with the precautions to be taken in workplaces where an explosive atmosphere may be present due to flammable dust or gas mixtures.

KOVENT-KLIMA OOD designs and manufactures industrial ATEX fans both axial and centrifugal from:

- Group II
- Category 2 and Category 3

- Gas Zones 1 and 2 and Dust Zones 21 and 22

Fans for use in potentially explosive atmospheres find application in the petrochemical, oil, gas and pharmaceutical industries.

Disposal and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). At the end of the service life of the fan, the packaging and the product must be disposed of in authorized separate waste collection centers.
The equipment supplied is recyclable - do not mix with household waste, recycle responsibly in accordance with local laws and regulations.
